Sandpaper Punches
The most cost effective way of purchasing velcro backed sanding discs for sanding bowls is to buy it in 6” disc sizes or long rolls.
These can then be punched out into smaller sizes using a heavy hammer and a disc punch.
Our punches will allow you to punch out at least 5 discs at a time.
These punches are heat-treated and made from a very durable steel to allow you to punch out your own discs for many years.
We recommend using our plastic chopping board as it is much more durable and effective than using wood.
You can see Glenn punching out sandpaper in his bowl sanding techniques video.
Available sizes 2” and 3”

Keeping the punches sharp is important to obtain crisp sanding discs using the minimum effort while punching sandpaper.
This optional jig sharpening attachment for your sandpaper punch, can be used to sharpen our 50mm and 75mm sandpaper punches on either the Tormek SVD185/186R gouge jig or the One way wolverine vee arm.
When sharpening the sandpaper punch, first remove the M16 bolt and lock nut from the punch and insert the threaded sharpening shaft.
On the Oneway wolverine simply place the end of the shaft in the wolverine Vee arm and make the necessary adjustment until the bevel matches up with the wheel. Rotate continuously using both hands keeping your arms tucked in by your side for stability. Carefully rotate the punch until sharp maintaining a steady light rotation.
When sharpening on the Tormek Jig. First disassemble the bowl gouge jig SVD186R or SVD185 (older model). Screw the punch onto the threaded sharpening shaft and place it in bottom half of the Tormek jig. Adjust the horizontal base until the bevel meets the wheel and carefully rotate to sharpen using both hands.
